The MD degree is a postgraduate degree prevalent in Canada and the United States, and is recognized in many other countries around the world. The pre-clinical program lays the foundation for a unique opportunity to study in the US, the UK and Grenada with SGU. Students spend the last two years of the 5-year pathway doing clinical rotations in SGU’s 70+ affiliated hospitals and health centers in the US and/or UK. SGU has over 17,000 MD graduates who practice medicine in 50+ countries around the world including India, the US, the UK and Canada.

The curriculum of the preclinical program forms the foundation for the 4-year MD
degree program with SGU. Students study preclinical sciences, social sciences and
humanities. This year of the program is conducted at IMS, Ramaiah Campus in
Bengaluru, India. Students have access to Ramaiah’s medical facilities and resources,
and are taught by seasoned faculty.
The course modules include Introduction to Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Introduction to Practical Skills for Health Sciences, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Physiology, Human Anatomy, Learning Strategies for the Pre-Professional Programs, Communication for Health Professions and Abnormal Psychology.
The curriculum for students enrolling in this program in India, the UK, and Grenada remains consistent, preparing eligible students to seamlessly join the 1st year of the 4-year MD program in the UK or Grenada. Students are gradually adapting to the SGU teaching and learning style and their future studies abroad through guest lectures from SGU faculty and buddy student programs.

10+2 years certification with 80% in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics, and English; not less than 80% in any subject
Minimum 3 subjects BBB- Biology, Chemistry, and either Math or Physics; Biology, Math, or Physics can be accepted at AS level with strong non-science third A Level.
Minimum grade of 2 in Biology, Chemistry, and either Physics or Math. If the applicant has a 1 at CAPE 1 level in either Physics or Math, then another subject can be considered.
A minimum score of 32 points is required; 3 HL science subjects recommended; minimum of 2 HL subjects required, which must include: Chemistry and Biology; results 5 or higher.
